Daegu Center for Creative Economy & Innovation Deputy Director Woo Young-jae Receives 'Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award' for Contributions to Advanced Medical Device Development


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Daegu Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation (DGMIF, Chairman Youngho Lee) announced on the 27th that Woo Youngjae, Deputy Director of the Medical Device Development Support Center, received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award in recognition of his contribution to fostering the national medical device industry.


Deputy Director Woo Youngjae, the chief researcher at the Development Support Center, was recognized for his contributions to the domestic medical device industry through various efforts such as medical device development, R&D planning, and establishing corporate support systems since 2004. He was awarded at the 'KIMES Busan 2020' event held at BEXCO, Busan on the 23rd.


Deputy Director Woo joined the foundation in June 2012 and has been working at the Advanced Medical Device Development Support Center (Director Jongwon Kim), planning various R&D projects to support small and medium-sized medical device companies. He has overseen the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's 'Advanced Medical Device Development Support Project,' supporting 15 companies, resulting in 7 market entries and 38 patent applications and registrations.


Woo Youngjae stated, "The foundation's Advanced Medical Device Development Support Center is the Medical Device Development Support Center. We support the entire process from IT-based medical device R&D to accredited testing and inspection," adding, "We will continue to establish policies for companies and conduct R&D needed by hospitals to actively help domestic medical device companies grow."


Meanwhile, the Daegu Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation (DGMIF), which collectively refers to the Daegu Gyeongbuk Medical Complex and the Daegu Gyeongbuk Medical Industry Promotion Foundation, is a public institution that provides customized support for industry, academia, research institutes, and hospitals, including new drug candidate optimization, advanced medical device design, prototype production, and performance evaluation.
