Certified by KOLAS in 2013... Recognized for Measurement and Calibration Performance and Personnel Competence
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Korean Air announced on the 27th that it received the Prime Minister's Commendation at the '50th Measurement Day' ceremony held on the 26th at EL Tower in Seocho-gu, Seoul, hosted by the National Institute of Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The Measurement Day Commendation is awarded to organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of industrial measurement, commemorating October 26, 1446, when King Sejong created and promulgated measurement standards.
Korean Air was recognized for its efforts to advance measurement technology in the aviation industry and its contributions to improving aviation safety. In 2013, Korean Air became the first in the domestic aviation industry to receive accreditation from the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS), under the National Institute of Technology and Standards. KOLAS grants accredited institution status to organizations whose measurement-related execution and research capabilities meet international standards.
Accordingly, the precision of over 12,000 types of aviation-related measuring equipment used by Korean Air in aircraft manufacturing and maintenance?including gauges, altimeters, speedometers, pressure gauges, voltmeters, ammeters, and waveform measuring instruments?and the reliability of the data derived from this equipment are internationally recognized for their credibility.
Korean Air stated, "Since its founding, we have built extensive and core technological capabilities through continuous domestic and international aircraft and aircraft structure design, manufacturing, maintenance, and performance improvement projects." Based on this, the company actively supplies aircraft fuselages and structures to leading global aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing and Airbus, while expanding its business areas through the development of next-generation unmanned aerial vehicles and drones."
