[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Samsung Electronics' next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S21 series, is expected to be unveiled in January next year, with the Ultra model among the three expected to feature an improved screen refresh rate compared to its predecessor.
On the 26th (local time), Indian IT media outlet 91mobiles revealed the Galaxy S21 specifications obtained from IT tipster Ishan Agarwal. The outlet explained, "The Galaxy S21 launch is scheduled for January, and the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra models will be released."
The Galaxy S21 Ultra's codename is known as 'O3', and its model number is SM-G998U. The display, battery, and camera specifications are similar to the previous model. It features a 6.8-inch AMOLED 2X display, and the battery capacity remains the same at 5000mAh. The dimensions are reported to be 165.1mm in height, 75.6mm in width, and 8.9mm in thickness.
There is also speculation that the screen refresh rate will improve from 120Hz to 144Hz. Samsung Electronics began supporting 120Hz starting with the Galaxy S20 series. The device will be equipped with the Snapdragon 875 chipset and support Android 11.
The rear camera is 108 megapixels, and the front camera is 40 megapixels, the same as the previous model. The Galaxy S20 and Note20 Ultra models also featured a 108-megapixel main camera.
Looking at the previously released rendering images, the bezel thickness has become thinner than the previous model, and the rear camera module has changed from a rectangular design to a slightly curved design.
