[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] Regarding the controversy over Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's use of the term 'subordinate,' Minister of Justice Chu Mi-ae described it as an "unfamiliar word," while People Power Party lawmaker Jo Su-jin pointed out, "Didn't you use the same expression in the past?"

On the 26th, during the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee's audit, Rep. Jo addressed Minister Chu, saying, "Right here, in July 2016, you were the first to use the expression 'core subordinate' when referring to the Park Yeon-cha gate investigation, stating that the direct superior was Hong ○○ and the core subordinate was Woo Byung-woo."

Earlier that day, during questioning, Minister Chu directly criticized Prosecutor General Yoon's remark by saying, "I also find the word 'subordinate' unfamiliar."

In response to Rep. Jo's point, Minister Chu said, "I don't recall, but since the lawmaker found it, I won't deny it," adding, "I cannot precisely comment on statements made four years ago."

When Rep. Jo said, "You don't remember? This itself is highly controversial," Minister Chu retorted, "This controversy arose because the Prosecutor General said here that he is 'not a subordinate,' which made the lawmaker curious."

Meanwhile, on the 22nd, during the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee's audit of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, Prosecutor General Yoon made a pointed remark toward Minister Chu, stating, "The Prosecutor General is not a subordinate of the Minister."

On that day, Prosecutor General Yoon criticized, saying, "Legally, the Prosecutor General is not a subordinate of the Minister," and added, "If the Prosecutor General were a subordinate of the Minister, there would be no need to operate the vast Supreme Prosecutors' Office organization funded by taxpayers' money."
