North Korea Gains More Lethal Missiles Due to Trump’s Foreign Policy

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential candidate in the United States, criticized President Donald Trump's foreign policy, saying it has enabled North Korea to acquire more lethal missiles.

On the 25th (local time), in an interview recorded for CBS's current affairs program "60 Minutes," Biden made this statement. He also said that while Trump embraced dictators, he harmed traditional allies.

When asked what he thought was the greatest external threat facing the United States, he mentioned North Korea while discussing the weakening of America's standing in the international community, saying, "We have lost our place in the world."

Targeting President Trump, he said, "Look at what he is doing," adding, "He embraces dictators and pokes our allies in the eyes with his finger." He continued, "What is happening now is that North Korea has more lethal missiles and greater capabilities than before."

Biden also said that Iran is closer to having more fissile material capable of producing nuclear weapons than before.

He criticized, "NATO allies say they cannot trust the United States and are stepping back from America," adding, "He (Trump) is moving away from what allowed us to unite the world."

Earlier, on the 15th, during a town hall event with ABC, Biden also criticized Trump, saying, "America First has made America alone," and "North Korea now has more bombs and missiles it can use."

On the same day, when asked which country poses the greatest threat to the United States, Biden said, "In terms of our security and the disintegration of alliances, I think the greatest threat to the United States currently is Russia."

He also said, "I think the biggest competitor is China," adding, "Depending on how the United States handles its relationship with China, it could face a more serious competition that could even involve military force."
