Mirae Company Holds 'Revo Day' with Seoul St. Mary's Hospital Robot Surgery Dream Team

Mirae Company Holds 'Revo Day' with Seoul St. Mary's Hospital Robot Surgery Dream Team Key medical staff and stakeholders attending Revo Day.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Mirae Company (CEO Kim Jungoo) announced that on the 23rd, it held Revo Day, demonstrating gynecological and surgical procedures using the laparoscopic surgical robot ‘Revo-i’ at the Robot Surgery Center of Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital.

At the Revo Day event, Professor Lee Geunho of the Gynecology Department at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital performed an extensive hysterectomy, and Professor Song Kyo-young of the Surgery Department performed a gastrectomy using the surgical robot Revo-i. Many hospital officials, including those from Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, attended the Revo Day event as panelists, showing great interest in Revo-i.

Professor Lee Geunho is widely known as a gynecologic cancer specialist who has performed the most single-port surgeries for gynecologic cancer in Korea. Professor Song Kyo-young is a highly skilled doctor in robotic surgery, so much so that he is called a master of minimally invasive robotic surgery.

Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital introduced laparoscopic robotic surgery when it opened in 2009 and established a Robot Surgery Center in May 2010 by gathering minimally invasive surgery experts from various departments. Currently, robotic surgery is utilized for various areas including prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, colorectal cancer, thyroid cancer, uterine fibroids, gynecologic cancer, oral cancer, and lung cancer. As of July, a cumulative total of 5,000 robotic surgeries have been performed.

In particular, by using Revo-i for ‘hysterectomy’ and ‘gastrectomy,’ which are known to be highly difficult surgeries, at this Revo Day event, it was explained that the excellent performance of Revo-i was proven.

At the International Robotic Surgery Live (IRSL), an international robotic surgery academic conference held annually at Severance Hospital, the excellence of Revo-i was already widely recognized by doctors worldwide in 2018 and last year.

Lee Hogun, Executive Director of the Surgical Robot Division at Mirae Company, said, “Through this Revo Day, it has been proven once again that Revo-i has the performance to be applied even to high-difficulty surgeries,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that Revo-i is introduced in more tertiary general hospitals and large hospitals so that more doctors and patients can receive high-quality medical services.”
