[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Audi announced on the 26th that five models?A1 Citycarver, The New A3, Q3 Sportback, A5, and RS 6 Avant?won awards in 5 out of 10 categories at Germany’s prestigious automotive design award, the ‘Autonis 2020’.

The Autonis Award is a car design award voted on by readers of the German automotive magazine ‘Auto Motor und Sport.’ This year, over 100 new models were nominated, and approximately 16,000 readers participated in voting to select the best-designed models in each category.

Mark Lichte, Audi’s Head of Design, who received five trophies on behalf of the design team, said, “Although these models all belong to the Audi lineup, each vehicle has distinctive features,” adding, “Audi’s design is not only attractive but also meets the tastes of our customers.”

In the small and compact model categories, the Audi A1 Citycarver, Audi A3, and Audi Q3 Sportback were honored. The Audi A1 Citycarver, launched in Europe last November and gaining popularity, was selected as the most attractive small car this year with a high vote share of 33% in the small car category. In the compact car category, the Audi A3, the first Audi model to feature matrix LED headlights combined with digital daytime running lights, received 19.6% support. In the compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) category, the Audi Q3 Sportback was selected with a 24.4% vote share. This model is characterized by Audi SUV line’s muscular exterior and a coupe-style SUV’s low roofline.

In the mid-size and large model categories, the Audi A5 and Audi RS 6 Avant received the Autonis design awards. The Audi A5, which underwent a facelift last year, features a wide single frame with honeycomb inserts reminiscent of the classic Audi Sport Quattro and air vents above the grille. The Audi A5 recorded a high vote share of 36.3%. Additionally, the Audi RS 6 Avant ranked first in the large model category with 22.6% of the votes. This model stands out with a flatter single frame compared to the base A6 Avant model, a body widened by about 40 mm on both sides, and voluminous wheel arches.
