[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Ministry of Science and ICT's Korea Post Headquarters (Director Park Jongseok) will improve and implement the delivery method of registered ordinary mail (registered mail) from the 26th to minimize inconvenience to recipients of registered ordinary mail and enhance the delivery efficiency of postal workers.
According to the Jeonnam Regional Post Office on the 26th, the improvements in the delivery method of registered mail include ▲expanding non-face-to-face delivery of registered mail by designating delivery locations ▲extending the storage period of undelivered mail due to recipient absence by 2 days ▲adding the option to request a preferred redelivery date for mail undelivered after one attempt.
To protect the safety and health of postal workers and recipients and to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, recipients can designate and request delivery locations such as unmanned mailboxes or post office storage through mobile, Internet Post Office, or Post Office Call Center, allowing them to receive registered mail without face-to-face contact with postal workers.
Additionally, to increase convenience for customers who could not receive mail due to absence during registered mail delivery, the storage period at the post office will be extended from 2 days to 4 days.
Furthermore, if recipients wish to receive mail stored at the post office for 4 days due to absence after one delivery attempt via postal worker delivery, they can designate one day during the storage period as a preferred redelivery date and apply through mobile (Postal App), Internet Post Office, or Post Office Call Center.
The improvements will be implemented nationwide by dividing areas into first and second phases; the first phase will start from this day, and after supplementing the results of the first phase, the second phase will be implemented.
However, the designation of delivery locations will be implemented at all post offices nationwide from the 26th regardless of region.
