[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea increased by 119 on the 26th.
The number of new confirmed cases returned to triple digits for the first time in three days since the 23rd, as cluster infections continued not only in nursing hospitals but also in gatherings and academies in the metropolitan area.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on that day, the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases rose by 119 from the previous day to 25,955.
Regarding the infection routes of the new confirmed cases, 94 were locally transmitted and 25 were imported from overseas.
Among the locally transmitted cases, 65 were in Gyeonggi, 20 in Seoul, 3 in Incheon, 3 in Gyeongnam, 1 in Daejeon, 1 in Chungbuk, and 1 in Chungnam.
Of the 25 imported cases, 17 were identified during quarantine upon entry. The rest tested positive while in self-quarantine at their residences or temporary living facilities in various regions: 3 in Gyeongbuk, 2 in Gyeonggi, 1 in Ulsan, 1 in Sejong, and 1 in Chungbuk.
The number of patients who have been declared recovered and released from isolation increased by 36 from the previous day to 23,905. The death toll remained unchanged at 457.
