Amorepacific, Symposium at the Food and Nutrition Science Society Academic Conference

[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Amorepacific held the "Green Tea and Microbiome Symposium" at the 2020 International Conference of the Korean Society of Food and Nutrition Science. The international symposium and regular academic conference of the Korean Society of Food and Nutrition Science took place from the 21st to the 23rd at the Jeju International Convention Center in Seogwipo, Jeju Island.

At the symposium held on the 22nd, domestic and international experts shared academic research achievements on green tea, green tea probiotics, and the microbiome (microorganisms inhabiting the human body and their genetic information), and discussed new values.

Wilhelm Holzapfel, Chair Professor at Handong Global University and President of the International Commission on Food Microbiology and Hygiene (ICFMH), a world-renowned scholar in microbiology, presented on "Discovery of New Functional Values of Green Tea Probiotic Strains." He discussed safety and functional studies of a new plant-based green tea probiotic strain (Lactobacillus plantarum AP Seollok 331261) discovered in organic tea fields in Jeju.

Dr. Eun Kyung Cho of Amorepacific Technical Research Center presented on "Anti-inflammatory Effects of Exosomes Derived from Green Tea Probiotics." This research identified that exosomes (extracellular vesicles), recently attracting attention in the global life sciences and medical fields, isolated and purified from green tea probiotics, demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects on human skin tissues and immune cells.
