KT Unveils GameBox PC Version

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT is launching a PC version of its ‘Game Box,’ allowing users to enjoy high-spec games regardless of desktop or laptop performance.

According to KT on the 26th, Game Box is a streaming game service that offers unlimited access to over 110 games for a monthly fee of 4,950 KRW. Since games run on cloud servers, no separate installation is required, enabling high-spec gaming without limitations of device performance or location, making it a representative contactless service in the post-COVID era.

KT has newly introduced the PC version of Game Box so that customers can enjoy games across various OTT environments. It is provided to paid Game Box subscribers, and users only need to access the Game Box site on their PC and install the launcher. Games can run without a graphics card, and there is no need to install over 100 games, reducing hardware burden. A seamless feature is also offered, allowing users to continue playing games enjoyed on mobile directly on PC.

To celebrate the launch of the Game Box PC version, KT is holding an event for customers from the 26th until the 1st of next month. During the event period, users can enter through the Game Box app. Five first-place winners will receive Galaxy Buds Live, and 50 second-place winners will be awarded chicken sets. Following the PC version, KT plans to introduce AI set-top box Giga Genie integration service next month. This will establish a perfect OTT environment where customers can enjoy streaming game services without being restricted by devices such as mobile, PC, or IPTV.

Lee Sung-hwan, Executive Director of KT’s 5G/GiGA Business Division, stated, “With the launch of the Game Box PC version, gamers can now play high-spec games anytime and anywhere via smartphones and PCs,” adding, “We will build a complete OTT environment for streaming games with the IPTV integration service launching next month.”
