"Stop the Activities" Victoria and Ray's Anti-American Aid Memorial Post Controversy... 청와대 Petition Emerges A petition titled "Request to Sanction the Activities in Korea of Chinese Celebrities Who Support China's Distortion of Korean War History" was posted on the Blue House National Petition Board on the 24th./Photo by Blue House website capture

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] Amid controversy over Chinese celebrities such as EXO member Lay and f(x) member Victoria posting commemorative messages on social networking services (SNS) for the '70th Anniversary of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea (항미원조)', a petition has been posted on the Blue House's national petition board requesting sanctions on their activities.

China refers to the Korean War as the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea and commemorates October 25, the day the Chinese People's Volunteer Army achieved its first victory, as a memorial day.

On the 24th, a petition titled "Request to sanction Chinese celebrities who support China's distortion of Korean War history and their activities in Korea" was posted on the Blue House national petition board. The petition has currently gathered over 100 preliminary endorsements and is under review for public disclosure by the administrators.

The petitioner stated, "China is producing various propaganda materials, making films, and broadcasting related documentaries during prime time to mark the '70th Anniversary of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.' The so-called 70th anniversary refers to the Korean War. They shamelessly ignore the fact that they allied with North Korea to attack South Korea and brazenly claim that their attack on South Korea was to 'save Korea from American imperialism.'"

They continued, "Chinese celebrities who debuted in Korea and have gained global recognition are posting related propaganda materials on China's SNS, Weibo, supporting China's distortion of Korean War history. They are fueling propaganda aimed at fellow Chinese and people worldwide who are not well-informed about Korean history."

Furthermore, the petitioner urged, "Victoria of f(x), Lay of EXO, Joo Kyulkyung of Pristin, and Seongso, Migi, and Seonui of WJSN, who have gained money and fame under Korean entertainment companies, should not be allowed to shamelessly continue their activities in Korea after supporting China's disgraceful historical distortion. If expulsion is difficult, please impose strong sanctions on their activities in Korea."

The petitioner added, "I do not want to see them shamelessly continuing their activities while supporting the distortion of Korean War history."

Earlier, on the 23rd, Lay posted on Weibo with the hashtag '#70th_Anniversary_of_the_Volunteers_War_to_Resist_US_Aggression_Operation' and wrote, "Heroes are never forgotten."

Victoria also posted on Weibo the same day, writing, "Remember history, cherish peace, and pay tribute to the heroes." Joo Kyulkyung of Pristin and Seongso, Migi, and Seonui of WJSN also posted similar messages.

In response, netizens have expressed critical reactions such as "Disappointing despite gaining fame by working in Korea," and "They are not qualified to work in the Korean entertainment industry."
