Multicultural Performances, Global Food and Culture Experiences, and Donation Running Events Offer a Variety of Rich Activities
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) will hold the '2020 Online Multicultural Festival Rainbow+' from the 29th to the 31st through the Gwanak-gu YouTube channel (Live Gwanak).
The number of multicultural families residing in Gwanak-gu is 11,072, ranking third among Seoul's autonomous districts. To help them settle as members of our society, the district has been hosting this event for the 13th time since 2008.
Especially this year, in line with the post-COVID-19 era, the Gwanak Rainbow Network, which consists of nine local organizations including the Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center, planned the event online to present a new and unique experience never seen before.
The event starts with an opening ceremony at 10 a.m. on the 29th and continues for two days from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the final day, the 31st, running from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Residents who wish to participate can easily join the live broadcast anytime and anywhere by searching for ‘Live Gwanak’ on YouTube during the event hours.
This program offers a variety of attractions, including traditional Russian dance, multicultural performances by a children's choir, a noon native language radio broadcast, and crime prevention education conducted in various languages.
Additionally, multicultural experience programs such as ▲making Chinese-style toast ▲creating Russian Matryoshka dolls ▲learning Vietnamese rice dance ▲Halloween origami classes are prepared with diverse content.
In particular, the closing program features a donation run where participants run together and donate. Registered participants will run together in real-time using the Zoom platform, and the donations will be delivered to the Community Chest of Korea under the participants' names.
Mayor Park Junhee said, “This year, we have created an opportunity for multicultural families and general families to communicate and interact through online means,” adding, “Although the situation is difficult due to COVID-19, I hope this online meeting will be a place where multicultural families and local residents understand each other's cultures and enjoy together.”
