POSCO Engineering & Construction Wins 490 Billion KRW Contract for Waste Incinerator Project in Poland

On the 22nd, POSCO Engineering & Construction received the Letter of Award (LOA) for the Warsaw Waste Incinerator EPC project, commissioned by the Warsaw Waste Management Company (MPO) in Poland.

This project involves designing and constructing an eco-friendly waste incineration facility that incinerates large amounts of waste generated in Warsaw and nearby areas, utilizing the waste heat generated in the process to supply electricity and district heating.

POSCO Engineering & Construction explained that it will build a new incinerator using the stoker method, which mechanically feeds fuel to ensure smooth combustion, capable of processing 264,000 tons annually, and will renovate and repair existing facilities that process 40,000 tons annually.

The construction cost is approximately 490 billion KRW (1.67 billion Polish Zloty), and the construction period is 36 months from the start of work.

POSCO Engineering & Construction plans to fully mobilize its smart construction technology capabilities such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), drone surveying, and 3D scanning to meet Europe’s high EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project management standards.

A company official said, "We succeeded in winning the project by beating a European consortium in a global competition for Poland’s largest waste incinerator project," adding, "The market for incineration facilities in Europe is gradually expanding, and we will strive for additional orders based on our technological capabilities."
