SME Industry: "Late Chairman Lee Kun-hee, a Giant Leading South Korea's Economy" The late Lee Kun-hee, Chairman of Samsung Group


[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector expressed sincere condolences on the 25th to the late Lee Kun-hee, Chairman of Samsung Group, who regarded SMEs as true partners and showed great affection for them.


The Korea Federation of SMEs stated at Seoul Samsung Hospital in Irwon-dong, Seoul, where the late chairman passed away, "The late chairman was a giant in the business world who led South Korea's economy by creating a world-leading global enterprise through relentless innovation and change, generating countless jobs."


They also said, "In 1997, he supported the establishment of the 'SME Human Resources Development Institute' in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, to nurture talent for SMEs, maintaining a special relationship with the Korea Federation of SMEs."


The SME sector added, "Since then, he has made special efforts for win-win growth and mutual development between large and small businesses by operating the Innovative Technology Companies Council for joint technology development with SMEs, enhancing the competitiveness of partner companies, and supporting the establishment of smart factories for SMEs."


They continued, "We pray together with 3.6 million SMEs that the late chairman, who elevated the pride of our people through Samsung's global presence, may rest in peace, and we extend our condolences to the bereaved family and all employees."
