Honam University Selected for 'Online Shared Video Conference Room Construction Project'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Honam University Employment and Startup Support Group Incubation Center (Director Kim Seongsu) announced on the 25th that it has been selected for the online shared video conference room construction project hosted by Gwangju Technopark.

This project was promoted to enhance the non-face-to-face accessibility of local companies and to promote digitalization.

Support will be provided for the construction of video conference rooms by the end of this year to corporate support institutions in areas densely populated with small and venture companies, such as specialized corporate support organizations like Technopark, university-industry cooperation groups and incubation centers of universities, chambers of commerce, Small and Medium Business Corporation, Korea Technology Finance Corporation, small business cooperatives, and industry-specific associations.

Each institution will receive support for hardware and software construction necessary for video conferencing, including displays, beam projectors, cameras, speakerphones, microphones, and electronic whiteboards, worth approximately 12 million KRW.

The Incubation Center supports resident companies in prototype production and marketing activities, and this support for building an online shared video conference room is expected to contribute to securing various export channels for companies using the video conference room in the future.

After the construction of the video conference room, plans are in place to activate the opening of the video conference room and online promotion so that not only resident companies but also local small and venture companies can easily use it.

Director Kim Seongsu said, “In the rapidly changing global economic paradigm after COVID-19, independent responses by resident companies and local small businesses clearly have limitations, so it is urgently necessary to prepare active support policies centered on companies. To recover from the difficult business environment, we will propose small business support policies to the central government and local governments to lead digital transformation centered on non-face-to-face methods, and devote ourselves to project execution to create a support base that can turn the global crisis into an opportunity to strengthen corporate capabilities.”
