KITA said, "Chairman Lee was the person who grew Samsung into the world's top company," and added, "The Korean trade industry expresses deep condolences on the passing of Chairman Lee, who made a significant mark on the Korean economy."

It continued, "The trade industry will honor the late chairman's achievements and spirit by making further efforts so that trade can overcome current difficulties and fully play its role as the central pillar of the Korean economy."
