[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG Uplus announced on the 25th that it has signed a business cooperation agreement with Korea District Heating Corporation to advance the safety management system in the heat transportation sector.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲ technical cooperation for real-time safety diagnosis related to heat transportation facilities ▲ mutual cooperation to improve technical reliability ▲ joint discovery of related technologies, information exchange, and cooperation to apply Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to the heat transportation sector.
The two companies previously conducted two rounds of technical cooperation to integrate the Internet of Things (IoT) and perform on-site demonstrations, enabling remote monitoring of management facilities such as underground heat transportation pipes and manholes. Through this, they developed technology to ensure the safety of increasingly aging underground facilities. LG Uplus stated that by advancing underground facility safety management technology through this agreement, they plan to enable the public to use district heating services more safely.
Choi Taek-jin, head of LG Uplus's corporate division, said, "For IoT technology to be applied in industrial sites to ensure public safety and improve efficiency, cooperation with various experts such as sensor specialists, communication technology experts, and field professionals is necessary." He added, "Through cooperation with the District Heating Corporation, we will strive to ensure that Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies solve many problems in domestic industrial sites."
