CU Offers Unprecedented Discounts at Korea Sale Festa

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] CU is participating in the ‘2020 Korea Sale Festa,’ held from the 1st to the 15th of next month, with unprecedented discounts and giveaways.


This event aims to revive consumer sentiment, which has been sluggish due to the impact of COVID-19, by expanding the number of promotional products such as +1 giveaways and credit card discounts to over 1,200 items. This is more than a 20% increase compared to last year’s event, making it the largest scale ever.


CU carefully selected frequently used everyday items, including groceries and household goods, as +1 giveaway products. Especially this year, with increased interest in health due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the number of health functional food items such as collagen, probiotics, and milk thistle has more than doubled compared to last year.


There will also be giveaway events for those staying at home. Reflecting the sharp increase in VOD users due to COVID-19, CU will give ‘KT Olleh TV coupons worth 5,000 won’ daily to the first 1,000 customers during the event period. To use, customers can access the PocketCU app, download the coupon number, and enter it when paying for VOD.


In line with Korea Sale Festa, CU’s unique ‘Friend Week’ event will be held from the 7th to the 13th of next month. For 11 items including instant meals, desserts, and jerky, a 2+1 promotion and an additional 3% membership points will be offered. Additionally, customers paying with NH Nonghyup Card or KB Kookmin Card can receive a 50% discount, allowing them to purchase three items for the price of one.


Also, on PocketCU, to deliver warm comfort during the chilly weather, from the 9th to the 13th of next month, a 79% discount coupon for warm beverages such as coffee and honey water will be provided daily at 11 a.m. to the first 5,000 customers.

Going forward, CU will continue to introduce differentiated products and promotions to support customers’ smart shopping and increase sales at over 14,000 franchise stores.”
