[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced on the 25th at midnight that the number of new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea increased by 61, bringing the total to 25,836.

The number of new confirmed cases decreased by 16 from the previous day (77), maintaining double digits for two consecutive days. Of the new confirmed cases, 50 were locally transmitted and 11 were imported from overseas.

Although the number of new confirmed cases has slightly decreased, the impact of cluster infections continues in nursing hospitals, nursing facilities, and rehabilitation hospitals where vulnerable groups to COVID-19 gather. Additionally, small sporadic infections caused by family and acquaintances' gatherings are ongoing, so the number of new confirmed cases could rise back to triple digits at any time.

Since the social distancing level was eased to Level 1 on the 12th, the daily number of confirmed cases has fluctuated around 100 as follows: 98 → 91 → 84 → 110 → 47 → 73 → 91 → 76 → 58 → 89 → 121 → 155 → 77 → 61.
