The Washington Post (WP) reported on the 24th (local time), citing an anonymous attendee, that President Trump made these remarks at a private fundraising event held on the 22nd at the Marriott Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.
At the time, President Trump reportedly said, "The Senate is going to be very difficult (to win). The Senate is very tough." He added, "There are some (Republican) senators I don't want to be associated with. I absolutely can't do that," and "Being associated with them is like losing my soul, so I cannot support some senators. I don't want to support them either."
However, the anonymous attendee said that Trump predicted the Republican Party would regain the majority of seats in the House of Representatives.
Currently, the Senate seat distribution is 53 seats for the Republican Party and 47 seats for the Democratic Party and independents.
