[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Jang Je-won, a member of the People Power Party, urged the resolution of the reinstatement issue of former Liberty Korea Party leader Hong Joon-pyo and others, stating, "Leaving comrades who have been chosen by the people unattended for over six months is not only unpolitical but also against human decency."
On the 25th, Jang said through Facebook, "The first thing to do to win (the election) is to build a unified front of the entire opposition camp."
He emphasized that the first step in building a unified front is the reinstatement of independent lawmakers, saying, "The biggest cause of consecutive election defeats was discriminatory politics where some are accepted and others are not," and urged the emergency committee to make a decision, stating, "Leaving comrades chosen by the people unattended for over six months is not only unpolitical but also against human decency."
Currently, among independent lawmakers formerly from the People Power Party, only lawmaker Kwon Seong-dong has completed reinstatement, while Hong Joon-pyo, Yoon Sang-hyun, and Kim Tae-ho have not yet been reinstated.
Jang questioned, "It is the tyranny of those holding party power and the ghost of discriminatory politics based on political interests," and asked, "Elections are about winning people's hearts, so how can a party that is so cruel to its comrades win the hearts of the people?"
He added, "Before calling for national unity, we must first unify our side," and said, "We need to derive a way to run the election together through close contact with the 'People's Party'."
