[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The government is holding the first-ever exclusive 'non-face-to-face export consultation meeting' for root companies to strengthen their overseas marketing capabilities.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 25th that it will hold consultation meetings for three months from this month to December in collaboration with KOTRA, the Korea Federation of SMEs, and others.

This month, root companies in the machinery and heavy equipment sectors are scheduled to have 15 video consultations with buyer companies from the United States and Germany.

Next month, consultation meetings will be held with themes such as automobiles and transportation equipment and the New Northern Region, and in December, ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and other themes are planned.

This non-face-to-face export consultation meeting is being held for root companies that have found it difficult to participate in domestic and international exhibitions and export delegations due to COVID-19 and other reasons.

KOTRA overseas trade offices in Germany, the United States, and Southwest Asia matched overseas buyers.

The consultation meetings will be conducted by connecting KOTRA Cyber Trade Consultation Rooms (headquarters, Suwon), Korea Federation of SMEs video consultation rooms, participating companies' offices, KOTRA overseas trade offices, and local buyer offices.

Root companies wishing to participate can select the desired region and themed consultation meeting and apply through the National Root Industry Promotion Center website.

An official from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said, "We will continue to expand non-face-to-face export consultation meetings to help root companies struggling due to COVID-19 to develop sales channels," adding, "We plan to strengthen close support so that actual export contracts can be concluded."

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is supporting the establishment of overseas marketing foundations for root companies through this year's root industry specialized complex support project, separate from the non-face-to-face export consultation meetings.

At the Gwangju Mold Specialized Complex High-Tech Mold Center, international conference rooms and buyer reception rooms have been installed to improve the business environment for overseas buyers visiting the complex.

At the Wanju Root Industry Specialized Complex, support is provided for establishing and operating overseas local sales bases in Mexico and the Czech Republic, as well as producing joint brand promotional materials such as 'JB MOLD&DIE'.
