[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] A survey on the public's interest in the heads of the top 10 conglomerates revealed that Lee Jae-yong, Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics, ranked overwhelmingly first.
On the 24th, the Global Big Data Research Institute announced that it conducted big data analysis on 220,000 sites across 12 channels including news, communities, cafes, YouTube, blogs, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, KakaoStory, Knowledge-In, companies/organizations, and government/public sectors over a three-month period from July 16 to October 15. The results showed this outcome.
Data related to adults, gambling, transactions, sports, real estate, games, securities, advertisements, and common posts were excluded from the analysis.
The group heads analyzed, ranked by volume of information, were Lee Jae-yong, Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics; Choi Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group; Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group; Koo Kwang-mo, Chairman of LG Group; Shin Dong-bin, Chairman of Lotte Group; Lee Sung-hee, Chairman of NongHyup Central Association (same person as the Central Association of Agricultural Cooperatives); Kim Seung-yeon, Chairman of Hanwha Group; Choi Jeong-woo, Chairman of POSCO (same person as POSCO Co., Ltd.); Chung Ki-sun, Vice President of Hyundai Heavy Industries (same person as Chairman Chung Mong-joon); and Huh Tae-soo, Chairman of GS Group (same person as Huh Chang-soo), totaling 10 individuals.
When a family member or relative of the same person was effectively exercising management rights or was recognized as the de facto successor, the analysis targeted that individual. If the head was a corporation, the analysis focused on the head of that corporation.
The survey results showed that 'Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong' recorded an overwhelming first place with 50,812 mentions.
This was due to numerous significant management news such as continuous cooperation with leading overseas companies despite the risk of infectious diseases, development of next-generation semiconductors, and the first domestic attempt at fair contract agreements with third-tier suppliers, as well as ongoing news related to trials.
Second place was 'Chairman Choi Tae-won' with 14,187 mentions, followed by 'Chairman Chung Eui-sun' with 9,645 mentions.
Next were 'Chairman Koo Kwang-mo' with 7,834 mentions, 'Chairman Shin Dong-bin' with 7,538 mentions, 'Chairman Lee Sung-hee' with 5,525 mentions, 'Chairman Kim Seung-yeon' with 3,817 mentions, 'Chairman Choi Jeong-woo' with 3,657 mentions, and 'Vice President Chung Ki-sun' with 1,043 mentions.
'Chairman Huh Tae-soo' recorded the lowest volume of information with 928 mentions, remaining in the three-digit range.
The favorability of the heads of the top 10 groups was also surveyed. In terms of net favorability, calculated by subtracting the negative rate from the positive rate, 'Vice President Chung Ki-sun' ranked first with 64.33%, the only figure exceeding 50%.
Following were 'Chairman Choi Jeong-woo' with 49.17%, 'Chairman Lee Sung-hee' with 42.95%, 'Chairman Chung Eui-sun' with 39.65%, 'Chairman Choi Tae-won' with 28.24%, 'Chairman Huh Tae-soo' with 28.02%, 'Chairman Kim Seung-yeon' with 24.76%, and 'Chairman Koo Kwang-mo' with 21.28%.
