Delivery of meal kits to homes of about 150 local Dream Start children by November 6... Various popular and kid-friendly dishes like 'Mille-Feuille Nabe' and 'Gambas al Ajillo' included
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is conducting a family cooking program that delivers meal kits to the homes of Dream Start children who find it difficult to go out due to COVID-19.
Meal kits are cooking and recipe boxes that have recently gained popularity among people who avoid dining out due to social distancing. They provide a set of high-quality ingredients, seasonings, and cooking instructions needed for the dishes.
This cooking program is expected to receive a high response from the target children by offering various dishes such as shrimp and steak, which children like.
Looking at the types of meal kits delivered, they include "Mille-feuille Nabe," a hot pot dish made by layering napa cabbage, perilla leaves, and meat; "Gambas al Ajillo," shrimp and garlic fried in olive oil; "Chop Steak," stir-fried beef and vegetables; and "Gochu Japchae," stir-fried minced pork and bell peppers, providing both taste and nutrition.
This is the second time the district has provided meal kits. During last Chuseok holiday, meal kits were also provided to Dream Start children who had difficulty meeting their families, carefully looking after their health.
In particular, positive responses continued such as "The ingredients were fresh and abundant," "The cooking method was simple and easy to follow," and "We were able to enjoy a delicious meal with family during difficult times to go out."
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, "Due to the good response to the meal kits, we planned this additionally," and added, "I hope it will be a meaningful time to strengthen family bonds through cooking together."
The district has also received great responses by conducting various non-face-to-face programs such as "Robot Science at Home" and "Non-face-to-face Parent Education Program" for Dream Start children even during the COVID-19 situation.
