From the 26th to the 1st of next month
Events held at 27 institutions nationwide
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea announced on the 25th that the 15th Humanities Week will be declared from the 26th of this month to the 1st of next month, during which more than 200 diverse humanities events such as discussions, lectures, and dialogues related to the humanities will be held at 27 institutions nationwide.
Humanities Week, which began in 2006, provides citizens with opportunities to engage with the humanities and reflect on its value. This year, due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), 70% of the events will be conducted online. The theme is "The Path of Humanities in the COVID Era - Together, Anew, Deeply."
At Gyeongsang National University in Jinju, Gyeongnam, a photo exhibition titled "Humanities Embracing Jinju" will convey Jinju's 100-year history. At Kyung Hee University International Campus in Gyeonggi, a virtual reality experience exhibition and music band performances for children and adolescents are also scheduled. More detailed information can be found on the Humanities Empathy website.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Yoo Eun-hye said, "I hope that people will not project anxiety, fear, and anger caused by the COVID era onto others, but instead heal their wounded hearts together with their neighbors and take time to reflect on our lives."
