[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Ahead of next month's U.S. presidential election, 53% of voters responded that Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden won the final debate held on the 22nd (local time) between President Donald Trump and Biden, according to a report by CNN.
CNN reported that in a phone survey conducted with 585 voters who watched the debate that day, 53% judged Biden as the winner, while 39% chose President Trump. Considering that only 28% said President Trump performed better in the first debate, it appears that the change in debate style increased positive evaluations of President Trump.
Among respondents, 73% viewed Biden's criticisms of President Trump as "valid," but when asked whether the points Trump raised about Biden were reasonable, 50% answered "yes," and 49% answered "no."
In a YouGov America poll, 54% of voters also saw Biden as the winner of this debate. Only 35% believed President Trump won.
Amid these poll results, President Trump posted on his Twitter immediately after the debate a screenshot of an online survey showing an overwhelming majority saying he won. In a poll conducted by the largest daily newspaper in Nevada, the Las Vegas Review-Journal, 92% said Trump won, and conservative media outlets The Blaze and The Daily Wire reported results of 96% and 95%, respectively, evaluating Trump's victory.
