[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, has initiated institutional improvements to establish a women-friendly city.
According to Gochang-gun on the 23rd, the county's Women-Friendly Team, together with external experts, analyzed all 523 ordinances of Gochang-gun over five months since June, categorizing them into five items: gender distinction and characteristics, gender equality participation, and others.
Among them, 349 cases were found to exclude gender equality participation elements, raising the need for revision.
This was because there were continuous points raised that various committees' composition should consider gender-equal participation and gender-specific characteristics reflecting policy benefits and eligibility requirements according to gender.
Accordingly, each department plans to complete the necessary procedures within this year for ordinances that can be revised by reflecting expert opinions.
A county official said, “We will establish the institutional foundation of a women-friendly city and promote various projects reflecting gender characteristics as well as providing gender-equal opportunities to advance the establishment of a women-friendly city.”
