[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The number of kindergartens and elementary, middle, and high schools that have adjusted their in-person class schedules due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has been counted at 30.
The Ministry of Education announced on the 23rd at 10 a.m. that 30 schools in 6 cities and provinces have adjusted their attendance.
The number of schools that suspended in-person classes remained below 20 from the 19th, when the expansion of attendance began, until the previous day, but increased to 30 on this day. This is an increase of 12 schools compared to the previous day.
By region, there are 13 schools in Gyeonggi, 9 in Seoul, 4 in Chungnam, 3 in Gangwon, and 1 each in Daegu and Gwangju. 70% are concentrated in the metropolitan area.
As of midnight on this day, the number of students confirmed positive increased by 8, reaching a cumulative total of 660. There were no additional confirmed cases among faculty and staff, with a cumulative total of 134.
