KB Kookmin Card Practices 'ESG Management' in Myanmar and Indonesia... Donations for Low-Income Groups

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] KB Kookmin Card has launched localized social contribution activities in Myanmar and Indonesia following Cambodia, embarking on global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management.

On the 23rd, KB Kookmin Card announced that it delivered 560 safety umbrellas and 1,260 Love T-shirts to children from low-income families in Yangon, Myanmar, to ensure safe commuting on rainy days.

The safety umbrellas and Love T-shirts delivered that day were made through a contactless talent donation method, where KB Kookmin Card employees assembled kits at home, considering the COVID-19 situation.

On the same day, KB Kookmin Card also delivered 450 sharing boxes containing necessary school supplies and various daily necessities to children from low-income families in Bantar Gebang, located on the outskirts of Jakarta, Indonesia. The sharing boxes delivered that day were made by collecting items donated by KB Kookmin Card employees and customers, including ▲clothing (T-shirts, pants, jackets, etc.) ▲school supplies (pencils, erasers, notebooks, bags, etc.) ▲English books ▲toys ▲hygiene products (soap, toothpaste, etc.).

A KB Kookmin Card official stated, "Going forward, KB Kookmin Card plans to continue differentiated and localized ESG management activities for marginalized groups in need of support overseas, focusing on countries where KB Kookmin Card has entered."

Meanwhile, KB Kookmin Card established a local representative office in Yangon, Myanmar, in 2017 and is currently working on full-scale market entry, including corporate conversion. In the case of Indonesia, KB Financial Multi Finance, a local credit finance specialist company engaged in automobile, motorcycle, and durable goods installment financing business, was incorporated as a subsidiary last August.
