[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] InfraWare, a specialized office software (SW) company, announced on the 23rd that it has been selected as an ‘Excellent Company in Information Security Investment’ by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) under the Ministry of Science and ICT in recognition of its efforts for information security.
The Excellent Company in Information Security Investment refers to companies that have voluntarily implemented information security disclosure among those that have received ISMS (Information Security Management System Certification), the most prestigious information security certification system in Korea, or an AA grade or higher in the information security readiness evaluation.
InfraWare obtained ISMS certification in June this year and disclosed its information security investment status and information security status including dedicated personnel on the Information Security Industry Promotion Portal (ISDS) website. Companies that disclose information security can reduce their ISMS certification fees by 30% and receive additional points when applying for information security targets and bidding for KISA informatization projects in the future.
The information security disclosure system provides users such as consumers, customers, citizens, shareholders, and corporate stakeholders with information on a company’s information security, presenting an objective criterion for choosing companies. Its purpose is to include information security as an important element of corporate management and to induce companies’ self-capability enhancement and investment.
InfraWare regularly conducts ▲company-wide information security and personal information protection training ▲incident response drills ▲penetration testing and vulnerability assessments to secure internal assets and users’ personal information, and has established and operates security solutions such as ▲DLP (Data Loss Prevention) ▲server access control solutions ▲NAC (Network Access Control system).
An InfraWare official said, “As we operate large-scale services with over 100 million global users, we are proactively making many efforts to ensure personal information security and stable service provision,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to strengthen security so that customers can use our services with peace of mind, including actively participating in the information security disclosure system that voluntarily reveals information security status.”
Meanwhile, InfraWare developed ‘Polaris Office,’ an office SW optimized for document work in various formats such as MS Office, HWP, and PDF. Polaris Office provides cloud services that can be used regardless of devices such as Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS. It currently has over 100 million subscribers worldwide.
