The government has decided to raise the fuel efficiency standard for vehicles to 33.1 km per liter by 2030 (for passenger cars and vans with fewer than 10 seats). This target is a 26.6% improvement from the current 24.3 km per liter. According to this standard, it is estimated that driving from Seoul to Cheonan, a distance of about 100 km, would require only about 5,000 won worth of fuel. While government-level eco-friendly energy policies are important, it is above all crucial that we practice "eco-driving," an environmentally friendly driving habit that saves fuel and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Proper driving habits that consider fuel efficiency and the environment also contribute to reducing human and material damage caused by traffic accidents.
Asia Economy will hold the "2020 Fuel Efficiency King Competition" on November 14. The Asia Economy Fuel Efficiency King Competition is an event for the general public to identify passenger car drivers who excel at saving fuel and practicing eco-friendly driving. This year marks the 13th edition, and over the past 12 years, about 920 teams have participated, establishing it as the largest fuel efficiency competition in Korea.
The Asia Economy Fuel Efficiency King Competition offers generous prizes, including fuel gift certificates, for participants and winners. Anyone aged 18 or older with a valid driver's license (Class 2 regular driver's license or higher) can participate. In the era of the Green New Deal, readers are encouraged to challenge themselves to become a Fuel Efficiency King.
