[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Bodyfriend announced on the 23rd that it ranked first in the healthcare (massage chair) category in the ‘2020 Korea Customer Satisfaction Index (KCSI)’ survey conducted by the Korea Management Association Consulting (KMAC).

The Korea Customer Satisfaction Index (KCSI), first introduced domestically in 1992, is celebrating its 29th year this year. It is an index that evaluates qualitative growth, announcing the top company in each industry annually based on a survey of over 340 companies across 110 industries.

Bodyfriend ranked first in the newly established healthcare (massage chair) category this year. In particular, it received excellent evaluations in massage performance and health improvement effects.

Previously, Bodyfriend has been enhancing its massage chair technology and design competitiveness through three major convergence research organizations: the Technology Research Institute, Design Research Institute, and Medical R&D Center. Notably, it established the Medical R&D Center, the first in the industry, staffed with specialists and biomedical engineers from various fields including orthopedics, neurology, internal medicine, psychiatry, and Korean rehabilitation medicine, to clinically verify massage programs and health improvement effects.

Investment in developing new healthcare technologies is also ongoing. Over the past five years, Bodyfriend has invested approximately 61.4 billion KRW in massage chair research and development, increasing investment by about 30% annually. As a result, it ranked first in patent applications in the therapeutic assistive device field, and as of this year, it has filed 2,413 intellectual property rights including patents, utility models, and designs, with 1,354 of them registered, according to Bodyfriend.

Customer service also stands out. Through meticulous consultations by professional sales staff at 121 directly operated showrooms nationwide, the rental cancellation rate is maintained below 1%. Additionally, Bodyfriend has introduced the industry’s longest 5-year free after-service and the ‘My Choice Rental Period Program,’ which allows customers to select their rental period, enhancing customer satisfaction.

A Bodyfriend representative stated, “We believe that consistently practicing ‘extending healthy lifespan by 10 years’ naturally led to both quantitative and qualitative growth in the massage chair market,” adding, “Through ‘five-sense super-gap’ management in technology, design, quality, service, and customer satisfaction?areas competitors cannot rival?we will present an unparalleled healthcare solution.”
