[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Jindo County is accelerating the installation of landscape lighting in the eup and myeon centers and streetlights on major roads to create bright streets.

According to Jindo County on the 23rd, landscape lighting has been installed so far at Jindocheon walking trail, Namchon Bridge, Jogeum-ri bus stop, the area around the Water Resources Corporation, Cheolma Square, Geumgol-ri in Gunnae-myeon, Inji-ri in Jisan-myeon, and Gunpo-ri in Uisin-myeon.

Going forward, after assessing resident satisfaction and gathering opinions, the plan is to expand the installation of nighttime lighting in myeon centers to create living and cultural spaces harmonized with nighttime landscape lighting.

The installation of landscape lighting is aimed at the bright street creation project, a key initiative of the 7th local government administration, expected to ensure the safety of residents through improved road environments and contribute to revitalizing the depressed commercial areas by providing attractions in the post-COVID-19 era.

In particular, the installation of streetlights at village entrances and major roads is targeted for completion by the end of next year.

Streetlights on small islands in Jodo-myeon will also be replaced with bright, low-maintenance LED streetlights to minimize inconvenience for island residents.

An official from Jindo County’s Economic Marketing Division said, “We are focusing administrative efforts on creating bright streets by completing streetlight installations on major roads and village entrances and expanding landscape lighting in myeon centers and major tourist sites.”
