[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] LG Electronics is starting pre-orders for the ‘LG Pra.L MediHair (model name: HGN1)’ designed for customers who want easy hair loss treatment at home.

On the 23rd, LG Electronics announced that it will conduct pre-order sales until the 29th ahead of the official launch of LG Pra.L MediHair at the end of this month. The retail price of LG Pra.L MediHair is 1,990,000 KRW.

LG Electronics will conduct pre-order sales not only at LG Best Shop stores but also on popular domestic hair loss communities such as ‘Imaban’, ‘Daedamo’, and ‘Samtalmo’ to capture the demand of customers highly interested in hair loss treatment. The total membership of these hair loss communities exceeds 450,000.

Additionally, LG Electronics will give the first 1,000 customers who pre-order LG Pra.L MediHair a scalp care voucher usable at 44 nationwide branches of Wellkin, a hair loss and scalp specialist center, along with an LG Pra.L ultrasonic cleanser.

From the end of this month, LG Electronics will operate LG Pra.L MediHair experience zones at nationwide electronics stores including LG Best Shop and major department stores, and will also sell LG Pra.L MediHair through official LG Electronics online stores and home shopping channels.

LG Pra.L MediHair is a helmet-type medical device for hair loss treatment. It has been approved as a Class 3 medical laser device by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and received Class II certification as a home-use medical device from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

This product utilizes the Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) method. Energy emitted from a total of 250 light sources, including 146 lasers and 104 LEDs, activates the metabolism of follicle cells surrounding the hair roots to promote hair growth. It also slows the progression of androgenic alopecia, which causes a decrease in hair density.

According to clinical results conducted by LG Electronics in collaboration with Bundang Seoul National University Hospital on 46 adult men and women, participants who used LG Pra.L MediHair in a 27-minute mode three times a week for a total of 16 weeks showed a 21.64% increase in hair density per 1㎠ compared to before use. Hair thickness also increased by 19.46%.

Seok-gi Son, Vice President of Marketing for Korea HE at LG Electronics, said, “We will carry out various marketing activities targeting customers highly interested in hair loss to promote the efficacy and safety of the LG Pra.L MediHair medical device.”
