[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) is hiring new sanitation workers responsible for street cleanliness.
A total of 10 positions are available. As of October 14, applicants must be between 20 and 59 years old and have resided in Nowon-gu for more than one year. The examination consists of three stages: first, document screening; second, practical test; and third, interview. Applications must be submitted to the Resource Circulation Division on the 6th floor of Nowon-gu Office.
The application period is three days, from the 28th to the 30th. Required documents include the application form, resume, consent form for personal information provision, and resident registration abstract. Forms can be downloaded from the Nowon-gu Office website.
The first document screening evaluates eligibility and the appropriateness of submitted documents. The second practical test, held on November 6, includes running while carrying luggage and throwing luggage far. Scores are assigned based on rankings in each event, and candidates are selected for the interview based on the combined scores of the two events.
The interview will be held on November 20. The final successful candidates will be selected on November 26 by combining practical test and interview scores. Those selected will undergo a physical examination and background check, and if no issues arise, they will be officially hired.
Sanitation workers have gained a positive reputation, leading to two recruitment drives last year, with 114 applicants competing for 16 positions.
Reflecting the job-seeking demands of young people in their 20s due to youth unemployment, the minimum age requirement, which was 30 until last year, has been lowered to 20 this year.
Once hired as sanitation workers, they become public employees under Nowon-gu Office and will be responsible not only for street cleaning but also for recycling, large waste collection, illegal dumping cleanup, and waste collection sites.
District Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “I hope citizens with a strong sense of duty and sincerity will become sanitation workers and brighten Nowon-gu.”
