Non-face-to-face format from 26th to 31st... Participate in festival via YouTube channel online lectures, performances, and reading kits
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyum-soo) will hold the 2020 Gangbuk 'Jipkok' Book Culture Festival from the 26th to the 31st, hosted by the Gangbuk Cultural Information Library.
The annual book culture festival, usually held in October, will be conducted online this year with lectures and performances in a non-face-to-face format to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
This event carries the slogan "With Books! To Tomorrow!" It means that residents, who are spending more time at home due to COVID-19, can embark on a journey through books at home, similar to the train travel "Naero".
From Monday to Saturday, activities will be carried out using reading kits with different themes each day, such as family trips and architectural journeys.
Additionally, every day at 2 PM, a talk show featuring three booktubers, along with book introductions and reviews to overcome COVID-19 by Sihan Bookstore, Gongbaek's Book Decoration, and Book Reading Jjira, as well as a lecture on "How to Recommend Books on YouTube" by Winter Bookstore, will be streamed through the Gangbuk-gu Public Library YouTube account.
On the last day of the event, the 31st at 2 PM, the festival will conclude with a book concert featuring world-renowned ecologist Professor Choi Jae-chun, a distinguished professor at Ewha Womans University. The concert will raise topics such as ways to overcome COVID-19 and coexistence between humans and nature, followed by discussions with the host. This will be accompanied by autumn melodies from "Classic Ato" and lively song performances by the fusion band "Se Jajeongeo".
Mayor Park Kyum-soo of Gangbuk-gu said, "These days, when all residents are struggling due to COVID-19, I hope this festival will provide residents with enjoyable time through books and allow them to feel the charm of reading. The district will also spare no administrative support to establish a culture of reading within the community."
