Expected Applications in Semiconductor Lines, Electronic Product Manufacturing Facilities, Information and Communication Facilities, and Operating Rooms
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Samhwa Paint Industrial Co., Ltd. announced on the 22nd that it has obtained a patent for 'Antistatic epoxy floor coating solvent-free two-component composition, its manufacturing method, and antistatic epoxy flooring.'
Electrification refers to an object possessing electricity. The static electricity generated at this time can cause discharge that damages materials or makes dust and dirt easily adhere, so it must be prevented; this is called antistatic. Antistatic flooring is essential in places where static electricity generation can cause significant disruptions to work or harmful effects on the human body, such as semiconductor lines, electronic product manufacturing facilities, information and communication facilities, and hospital operating rooms.
Previously, to manufacture antistatic coatings, films, and flooring, carbon-based materials such as carbon black and graphite, metallic substances, or antistatic agents were mixed with resins. However, to achieve satisfactory surface resistance, a large amount had to be added, which limited workability as well as appearance and durability.
With this patent, it is possible to manufacture epoxy flooring with excellent antistatic properties by adding only a very small amount of carbon nanotubes, solving various problems caused by electrification and improving economic efficiency.
A Samhwa Paint official explained, "The antistatic epoxy flooring is an eco-friendly product certified with an environmental performance label and has excellent antistatic properties, abrasion resistance, and durability," adding, "It is suitable as flooring for medical fields, laboratories, electronic equipment installation areas, and places with flammable hazards."
