US FDA Grants Full Approval to Remdesivir as COVID-19 Treatment (Update)

[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] On the 22nd (local time), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officially approved Gilead Sciences' Remdesivir as a treatment for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

Remdesivir is the first COVID-19 treatment to be officially approved in the United States. Previously, the FDA had granted emergency use authorization for Remdesivir in May.

Remdesivir, an antiviral drug, is known to reduce the mortality rate of severe COVID-19 patients.
