[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Actor Choi Cheol-ho, who caused controversy in 2010 for assaulting a female junior, appeared on a broadcast after a long time and revealed his current situation.

Choi Cheol-ho appeared on MBN's 'Field Report Exclusive World' aired on the 22nd.

According to the broadcast, Choi Cheol-ho is currently making a living by working night shifts unloading delivery packages.

Regarding this, Choi Cheol-ho explained, "(Acting) work gradually decreased, so I tried to start a business, but due to COVID-19 and various aftereffects, I incurred debt and the situation worsened."

He said, "I tried to endure by borrowing money, but it reached an unmanageable level. I had to sell my house and ended up in such a situation. My wife and children are at my in-laws' house, and my parents are in a nursing home."

He continued, "At that moment, I was at a loss about what to do. But by chance, a junior who does theater told me that when they needed money, they came here for a part-time job and earned a daily wage. So I said, 'Then I'll do it too,' and they asked if I could really do it. I'm not in a position to be picky now. So I came the very next day," he explained.

When asked why he appeared on 'Exclusive World,' he said, "I came out of desperation."

He answered, "As the head of the family, I had a desperate heart. I wanted to show my true self without any pretense."

Previously, Choi Cheol-ho gained popularity by appearing in major productions such as 'Yainshidae' and 'Dae Jo-yeong.'

However, after being involved in the female junior assault incident in 2010, his career declined, and returning to the entertainment industry was not easy.

Recalling the situation at the time, he confessed, "When I first received the reporter's call, without a moment's hesitation, I said, 'That never happened.' I regret it. It was a foolish act," and added, "I learned that every action has consequences."

He bowed his head, saying, "It is an unforgivable act, but I am repenting, or rather, seeking forgiveness from myself."

Meanwhile, after the 2010 assault controversy, Choi Cheol-ho continued volunteer work and returned to broadcasting in 2012. He also appeared in the drama 'Excitement Warning' two years ago but has since disappeared from the screen again.
