Park Sun-young's agency, A&U&A Company, stated, "We are aware of the rumors regarding Park Sun-young as the 'cooking oil celebrity,' but Park Sun-young lives in Seocho-gu, not Seongdong-gu. We are surprised by these groundless rumors."
The agency added, "At this time, there are no plans for legal action. We will clarify the rumors and monitor the situation."
On the 22nd of last month, a media outlet reported that an actress living in a luxury apartment in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, spilled cooking oil in the underground parking lot and left it unattended, causing a resident to suffer injuries requiring six weeks of treatment. The outlet also reported that the actress was sentenced to the maximum legal fine of 5 million won for negligent injury.
Subsequently, speculative posts claiming that the actress was Park Sun-young appeared on online communities, placing Park Sun-young at the center of the controversy.
