The province realized during the recent response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) that effective policies cannot be created without data. It was promoted based on the judgment that a shift to data-driven administration is necessary to prepare customized policies centered on the demand side.
About 20 officials attended the interim report meeting, including Gyeongnam Governor Kim Kyung-soo, Gyeongnam Research Institute, and Gyeongnam Technopark.
The main contents of the service include the basic plan for big data utilization, strategies for fostering the big data industry and training specialized personnel, plans for establishing and operating a big data center, and discovering and utilizing big data analysis projects.
The plan is being established divided into three fields: administration, industry (jobs), and personnel training. The administration field includes essential preliminary procedures and promotion systems for data administration, as well as policy tasks.
The industry and personnel training fields include corporate support centered on the big data center, data utilization plans for companies and residents, and plans for operating specialized education.
This service, which started in May, is expected to be completed in November after sufficient review.
Governor Kim Kyung-soo said, "I hope this can be an opportunity to accelerate big data administration, the datafication of administration itself, and smart administration combining data and artificial intelligence (AI)," and added, "I look forward to the activation of big data administration at the Southeast region level together with Busan and Ulsan."
