[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Korea Midland Power announced on the 22nd that it will promote a company-wide building sector greenhouse gas reduction program to raise all employees' awareness of climate change response and spread a culture of practicing eco-friendly living.
Using the Ministry of Environment's Carbon Point System methodology, incentives will be given to locations that achieve the highest reduction rates compared to past water supply, electricity, and other energy usage at the headquarters in Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do, and seven business sites nationwide.
Midland Power is contributing to spreading small daily habits to the local community by implementing a Carbon Double Point System through an agreement with Boryeong City in June this year, which additionally supports the carbon point amounts paid annually to Boryeong citizens.
Park Hyung-gu, President of Midland Power, said, "I hope the mindset that 'my small habits can change the world' and the eco-friendly living culture led by Midland Power will spread," adding, "We will fulfill our role as an energy public enterprise to realize a low-carbon society."
