At 5 PM on the 24th at Nowon Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater
[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] Dance Theater Shahar (DTS) Ballet Company will perform the original drama ballet "Les Mis?rables" on the 24th at 5 PM at Nowon Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater.
"Les Mis?rables" is an original ballet work adapted and produced by Ji Wooyoung, CEO and artistic director of DTS Ballet Company, based on Victor Hugo's novel of the same name. The original novel has already been adapted into various performance works such as plays, films, and musicals, and has been loved worldwide for a long time. Artistic Director Ji Wooyoung plans to convey the message Hugo intended through music and the beautiful language of the body.
Young dancers such as Stephanie Kim, Yoon Jeonil, Yoon Byeol, and Jung Minchan, along with experienced dancers including former principal dancer of the National Ballet Kang Junha, Professor Kim Soonjung of Sungshin Women's University Department of Dance Arts, and Professor Son Gwanjoong of Hanyang University, will share the stage.
Stephanie Kim and Yoon Jeonil will play the roles of Cosette and young Jean Valjean, respectively. The two dancers previously showcased excellent chemistry in "A Midsummer Night's Nutcracker," a modern reinterpretation of the classical ballet "The Nutcracker."
Ballet dancer Kang Junha will portray the older Jean Valjean, adding weight to the stage and emotional depth to the drama. Professor Son Gwanjoong will passionately perform the role of Inspector Javert, who pursues Jean Valjean. Professor Kim Soonjung will take on the role of Madame Th?nardier, delivering a high-level dance performance.
The revolutionary youth Marius will be played by ballet dancer Yoon Byeol, and the young Javert will be portrayed by former National Ballet dancer Jung Minchan.
Tickets can be purchased through Interpark. All proceeds from the performance will be donated to Yehaya Arts School and Yerum Arts School, which support children and adolescents with borderline intellectual functioning.
