[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Kang Hoon-sik, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, publicly apologized for playing a smartphone game during a national audit, saying, "I will reflect and refrain from such behavior."

On the afternoon of the 22nd, Kang posted on his Facebook, "It was reported in the media that I played a mobile game at the National Assembly today," adding, "I am sorry. Without a doubt, I was wrong." He continued, "I will reflect and refrain from such actions. I will ensure this does not happen again," and said, "The media, the opposition party, and the public have given me harsh words. I will listen carefully to every single one."

Earlier that morning, during the Industry, Trade, and Small and Medium Enterprises Committee's national audit at the National Assembly, Kang was caught playing a game on his smartphone. The committee focused on discussing the Board of Audit and Inspection's results regarding the early shutdown of the Wolsong Unit 1 nuclear reactor.

Hwang Gyu-hwan, deputy spokesperson for the People Power Party, criticized in a verbal comment, "The Democratic Party has clearly shown its attitude toward this national audit," adding, "They hold 176 seats but treat the audit lightly, as if the audit hall is just a playground for games."

Meanwhile, Kang was also involved in controversy in 2017 when he played a mobile game during the Seoul City national audit conducted by the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee at Seoul City Hall.
