[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Koscom is actively promoting social contribution activities to overcome the crisis in local communities affected by COVID-19 and other challenges.
On the 21st, a donation ceremony was held at the 'Ijumin Center Chingu' in Daerim-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, attended by (from left in the photo) Sang-gyu Yoo, Standing Auditor of Koscom, Ji-seok Jeong, President of Koscom, Young-hwan Yoon, Director of the Center, and Jin-hye Lee, Attorney.
On the 22nd, Koscom announced that its executives donated funds, created from salaries they returned to help overcome COVID-19, to the nonprofit organization 'Ijumin Center Chingu' in Yeongdeungpo-gu.
Ijumin Center Chingu, established in 2011, is a representative human rights organization in Yeongdeungpo-gu that provides legal support for the human rights protection of immigrants in Korean society, as well as supports the formation of immigrant communities and their self-sufficient living.
Additionally, on the 19th, Koscom supported 12,000 briquettes to 40 low-income households in Yeongdeungpo-gu and other areas of Seoul in collaboration with the nonprofit Warm Korean Peninsula Love Briquette Sharing Movement. Some employees personally visited households to carry out briquette sharing volunteer activities while maintaining social distancing.
President Jeong Ji-seok said, "As winter approaches amid COVID-19, the cold and difficulties felt by low-income groups are expected to increase. We will steadily fulfill our corporate social responsibility, however small, so that marginalized neighbors can spend the winter warmly."
Meanwhile, the Anyang City Hall in Gyeonggi Province presented a plaque of appreciation on the 15th, stating that Koscom's active social contribution activities greatly helped overcome the crisis of marginalized groups in the local community. Koscom has established and operates a data backup center in Anyang City.
