Professor Kim Jaeguk of Chonnam National University Recognized for Contributions to Battery Industry Development

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Professor Kim Jaeguk of Chonnam National University (Department of Materials Science and Engineering) was recognized for his contributions to the development of the battery industry.

According to Chonnam National University on the 22nd, Professor Kim received the Prime Minister's Commendation at 'InterBattery 2020,' held at COEX in Seoul until the 23rd, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

'InterBattery' is the largest domestic secondary battery industry specialized exhibition, considered one of the world's top three battery exhibitions.

Professor Kim is regarded as an expert in battery materials who first introduced the nano concept to the lithium secondary battery electrode materials field in 1997. At that time, his related paper was published in 'Nature' (impact factor 43.07), gaining international attention.

Later, while working as a staff scientist at the Argonne National Laboratory in the United States, he succeeded in developing core technology for high-energy electrode materials for electric vehicles as the materials development manager for the hybrid electric vehicle 'GEN 3.'
