Seoul City Tackles Odor at Majang Livestock Market

[Asia Economy Reporter Im On-yu] Seoul City announced on the 22nd that it will conduct a 'Market Environment Improvement Pilot Project' to resolve the odor problem at Majang Livestock Market in Seongdong-gu.

Seoul City plans to deploy steam cleaning vehicles to regularly wash bloodstains and animal residues on floors and roads that cannot be cleaned with water washing.

Eco-friendly Effective Microorganisms (EM) will be sprayed in the meat processing workspaces, and residues generated after processing will be collected in sealed containers and picked up by electric motorcycles.

A Seoul City official stated, "Majang Livestock Market is the mecca of domestic meat distribution and the largest supply source in the metropolitan area, but its outdated environment and odor discourage visitors. We will carry out three pilot projects for two months starting this month, verify their effectiveness, and plan to operate them in full scale from next year."
