Gwangju Buk-gu Holds 4th Industrial Convergence Mini-Cluster Meeting


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 22nd that it held a meeting with the members of the ‘4th Industrial Convergence Mini Cluster’ at Gwangju Technopark to prepare measures to revitalize the 4th industry.


Since last year, Buk-gu has been operating the ‘4th Industrial Convergence Mini Cluster,’ which includes 37 companies in new industries such as AI (Artificial Intelligence), AR·VR (Augmented/Virtual Reality), and drones, supporting prototype production and technology development.


At the meeting, District Mayor Moon In, Kim Inkwon, Head of the Convergence Technology Division at Gwangju Technopark, and representatives from the 37 member companies attended to discuss corporate requests and support measures including ▲ utilization plans for the Buk-gu drone flight training ground ▲ solutions to manpower shortages in 4th industry companies ▲ support for market development amid COVID-19.


Accordingly, Buk-gu decided to develop related industries through fostering drone specialists, attracting a drone demonstration support center, and designating a special drone free zone.


In connection with the AI specialist training courses promoted by Gwangju City and Gwangju Technopark, the district plans to provide job matching and employment opportunities to local youth.


Additionally, Buk-gu will actively implement a comprehensive plan to revitalize the local economy consisting of 33 tasks in 4 sectors to support business stability, while also supporting product promotion and market development through an overseas buyer video export consultation center and a cyber trade consultation meeting in November.


District Mayor Moon In said, “We will continue to actively revitalize the 4th Industrial Convergence Mini Cluster, which is a great driving force for the development of the local 4th industry, through steady exchange activities such as various lectures and seminars.”
