Nearly 50,000 Visitors in Just Three Days
International Biohealth Industry Online Exhibition 'Biohealth Worldwide Online' held from the 19th to the 30th of this month
"Welcome to the BioHealth Worldwide exhibition booth." The international biohealth industry online exhibition, ‘BioHealth Worldwide Online,’ which opened on the 19th, welcomed visitors. Upon entering the virtual exhibition hall, explanations about companies and their flagship products continued just like at an offline exhibition. Visitors watched product demonstrations through videos and quickly received answers to their questions by sending messages to the representatives. Afterwards, they immediately requested meetings to discuss specific collaborations.
Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and co-organized by KOTRA and Informa Markets Korea, this exhibition is the world’s first online exhibition where everything in the biohealth sector?including bio/pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and quarantine?can be viewed at a glance. The exhibition is broadly divided into four halls: the virtual exhibition hall, conference hall, video consultation hall, and IR & webinar hall. The biggest feature is that not only conferences and video consultations, which have become mainstream in the post-COVID-19 era, but also company-specific exhibition booths have been implemented online.
Upon entering the virtual exhibition hall, booths of 448 participating companies appear. In addition to domestic companies, 12 overseas companies from Europe, China, and other regions also participated. Notably, inspired by offline exhibitions where companies in the same field are placed close together for easy browsing, the companies are categorized in detail. For example, if your area of interest is infectious disease sample collection kits, you can focus on the eight companies found by selecting the mid-category ‘Infectious Disease Diagnosis’ and the sub-category ‘Sample Collection Kits’ under the K-Quarantine section.
The virtual exhibition hall fills the void of traditional online exhibitions by prominently featuring videos and 3D content instead of text descriptions. For instance, upon entering the booth of Yanmar GNS, a manufacturer of UV sterilizers for handrails, the first screen displays a 3D image of their flagship product, the portable sterilizer ‘ClearScan,’ along with an introduction and demonstration video virtually exhibited. The combination of voice explanations and three-dimensional images adds a sense of presence comparable to an actual booth. Clicking on the virtual exhibition hall’s images provides detailed information through text descriptions.

A real-time communication channel was also established to overcome the limitations of online exhibitions where direct interaction with company representatives is not possible. By entering company information and participating in matchmaking, visitors can immediately request meetings with companies of interest. The video consultation system set up in the exhibition hall can also be used for meetings with buyers. A KOTRA official stated, “Individual companies create online exhibition booths, and when buyers register to participate, real-time matching and communication become possible. Additionally, a video consultation system is built into the website to facilitate smooth communication between companies and buyers.”
Furthermore, an IR & webinar hall was prepared for companies seeking overseas investment attraction. On the 19th, an online demo day was held with participation from 15 small and medium-sized enterprises, mid-sized companies, and startups. After online pitching, they proceed with active investment attraction through video consultations. Additionally, a conference was held as a side event until the 21st. Twenty-two domestic and international speakers gave lectures on biohealth market trends and COVID-19 response.
From the opening on the 19th until the 21st, about 48,549 people visited the BioHealth exhibition. Among them, over 6,300 were overseas visitors. The BioHealth exhibition will continue to be held online annually going forward.
